If you see signs of pollution then report it to SEPA on their Pollution Hotline 0800 807060 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So that the Board are fully aware of all incidents within the District then please also advise the Boards Clerk Alison Baker firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0131 445 1527.
When reporting a pollution incident SEPA will be looking for as much detail as possible, but the key information is, location (description, i.e upstream left hand bank (looking downstream) above M9 motorway bridge), the type of incident and how long it had been going on, they will also need a note of your personal details, which they’ll use to keep you updated.
A grid reference is always handy to know exactly where the pollution is occuring. One website where you can find out grid references for an area includes Grid Reference Finder.
